I fight so hard to get all that I can out of this life so that when it does come my time, I can look back on a life full of the big love, belly laughs and memories that will last a lifetime

Blessed beyond belief, to be able to take my circumstances and instead of being mad at the world, be so wholeheartedly thankful for each and every moment that I’m alive instead.

Introduction to Mortality

Since death is a widespread phenomenon, this project also has a very broad scope.

Mortality is a vast concept, which is usually ignored, and in any case hardly appropriately repesented in mass media. Death is almost always viewed as a tragedy, rather than as a normal part of life.

We hope to contemplate not only the meaning of life per se, but also the significance of death as a normal part of life… and ultimately our aim is to think about and come up with some ways of thinking about what it means to die well versus what it means to die less well (or poorly). Poor in the sense of not wealthy is probably not the best measure of a poor (or good) death.

Since this topic is so vast, we hope to simplify it a little bit by first focusing on human mortality. Please note that even this topic is still much broader than what is normally represented on mainstream news media. We could also focus on a wide variety of aspects to this broad topic, but we intend to start off by taking a look at human mortality rates.

We invite participation! But please do refrain from trying to sell life insurance (or even — for that matter — any kind of insurance sales). We do welcome experts from the field, but we do not want to hear anything that resembles a sales pitch.

K? Thanks! πŸ˜€
